Designing a Dashboard Template Library to Unlock Faster Insights for Maintenance Teams
More portfolio items and case studies for work at Limble are coming soon.
Overview
At Limble, I guide product design across multiple product trios, shaping key initiatives that elevate usability, scalability, and business impact. One of my recent focus areas has been improving how maintenance teams access actionable insights through dashboards and reporting.
A key milestone in this work was the design of a dashboard template library—a curated set of pre-built, customizable dashboards that give users immediate access to valuable maintenance data without needing to start from scratch. This system helps teams of all sizes quickly implement data-driven practices while retaining full control over what they monitor and how.
The Challenge
Limble offered flexible reporting and dashboard capabilities, but many users—especially new or non-technical ones—struggled to create dashboards from a blank canvas. Our goal was to reduce the cognitive load and help teams surface meaningful metrics right away, without sacrificing the advanced customization that power users depend on.
We needed to design a library of templates that struck a balance between:
-
Out-of-the-box value and in-depth customization
-
Simplicity for new users and power for experienced teams
-
Standardization across enterprise accounts and flexibility for site-level variation
My Role
As the lead designer for this initiative, I was responsible for:
✅ Designing the template library system, including how templates were structured, surfaced, and customized
✅ Creating a set of four high-impact dashboard templates covering key maintenance reporting needs
✅ Defining modular design patterns that made templates easy to extend and maintain
✅ Collaborating across product, engineering, and design system teams to align capabilities and ensure scalability
✅ Supporting the go-to-market strategy by working with customer-facing teams on messaging and onboarding
The Solution: A Customizable Template Library
We launched a dashboard template library featuring four pre-configured dashboards, each designed to address a specific reporting use case:
-
Starter Dashboard: Establish baselines and kickstart reporting efforts
-
Asset Performance Dashboard: Optimize high-cost or underperforming assets
-
Task Performance Dashboard: Improve team productivity and task management
-
Account Overview Dashboard: Support strategic planning and executive reporting
Each template includes a set of modular, editable reports—giving users instant value with the ability to fine-tune for their unique environment. The library approach also allows Limble to expand offerings over time and create industry- or role-specific template sets.
Impact

While detailed metrics are still in development, early signs are strong:
✅ Faster dashboard adoption among new customers
✅ Improved user satisfaction with the reporting experience
✅ Reduced support burden related to dashboard setup
✅ Stronger standardization for multi-site enterprise teams
✅ Created a scalable foundation for future reporting enhancements
Ongoing Contributions at Limble
Beyond the dashboard templates project, I continue to lead efforts that scale design impact across the product:
-
Driving evolution of our cross-platform design system
-
Collaborating across trios to ensure consistency and cohesion
-
Mentoring team members and shaping design team practices
-
Partnering with research to refine core workflows and usability
